From third-party dependency to owned fulfillment platform

A core kitting operation paid per-order fees to run on software the business did not own, under volume ceilings it could not lift. Northlane replaced the dependency with a custom operational platform built around the real workflow.

01

The business problem

A core revenue operation ran through a third-party integration and fulfillment system. Every order paid a fee to someone else's software, and control of critical infrastructure sat outside the company. The dependency taxed margin and capped the volume the business could take.

02

What Northlane built

Northlane designed and delivered the complete operating layer: direct order integration, secure document generation, carrier integrations, automated printing, fulfillment workflows, and quality-control tooling. The business now owns the system its revenue runs through.

03

Why the approach worked

The original request was for an integration. Walking the operation showed that the real answer was three connected systems, not one isolated feature. That is the difference between building what was asked and building what the business needed.
